The Center for Empirical Research in Economics and Behavioral Sciences (CEREB) at the University of Erfurt is inviting applications for Ph.D. candidates in Psychology/Economics, supported by a scholarship awarded by the University of Erfurt. The CEREB is an interdisciplinary research group with a special interest in different aspects of human decision-making. The funding start date is 1st January, 2022 (at the latest 1st April, 2022). The scholarship which amounts to € 1.400 per month with an extra family allowance (€300 for one/the first child plus €150 for any further child) will run for three years (maximum: four years)
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to connect to researchers in the following fields: behavioral economics, social and health psychology, organizational psychology, organization & management, corporate & business ethics, corporate governance, individual and group decision making, child decision making, medical decision making & health communication. Further, access to a structured graduate program and recent research projects will be provided.
Eligibility
- Selected candidate must produce above-average examination results that proof an excellent qualification for scientific work
- Must be accepted as doctoral candidate by one of the University’s faculties or the Max-Weber-Kolleg by the beginning of the funding period
- Must be matriculated at the University of Erfurt by the beginning of the funding period.
Requirements
- Candidates must possess excellent research projects.
- Regular participation in the programme of certified graduate centre / the Max-Weber-Centre
- Attendance of at least 6 courses of the Academic Career and Qualification Programme
- Active networking
- Annual reports on the project progress
Application Details
- A Cover letter (maximum: 2 pages), highlighting the name of certified graduate centre or the Max-Weber-Kolleg, information on research project and reason for application.
- A CV in the German Tabular format
- An exposé of research project highlighting a working schedule for the standard funding period of three years and projected date of completion
- The document that confirms that applicant got in touch with a certified graduate centre or the Max-Weber-Kolleg;
- If the applicant is already accepted as a doctoral candidate by one of the faculties or the Max-Weber-Kolleg at theUniversity of Erfurt, a copy of the faculty’s or MaxWeber-Kolleg’s acceptance letter is required
- A list of publications or presentations of papers (if available)
- A copy of academic degrees (Diploma-/ or Magister-/ Bachelor- and Master’s certificate). Note that if original degree certificates are in languages other than German or English, a certified translation of original documents is required additionally
- A full copy of final thesis for the completion of Diploma-, Magister-, or Master-degree. Note that if the final thesis is in languages other than German or English, submit a German or English summary (maximum 2 pages) additionally
- The signed consent to the processing of personal data
Besides the above mentioned documents, an university teacher (University of Erfurt or other) must submit signed
letter of recommendation or evaluation in which s/he discusses qualifications for doctoral research. The
reviewer must submit the letter of recommendation or evaluation by using the form separately to Research and
Graduate Services via E-mail.
