The School of Psychology University of Kent is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to conduct comparative research in behavioral economics for a project on the topic of honor and social interactions. The post is funded by a 5-year European Research Council Consolidator grant awarded to Professor Ayse K Uskul titled “The Cultural Logic of Honor and Social Interaction: A Cross-Cultural Comparison” (HONORLOGIC). The Grade-7 full-time position has a salary range of £35,326 to £39,739. The starting date of the position is January 2022 (flexible). 

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the writing of research papers addressing the project’s research aims, in collaboration with the PI and other Postdoctoral RA’s
  • Develop, conduct, and coordinate the research as indicated in the designated project work packages, in line with the grant proposal
  • Collect, manage and analyze all data planned in the two work packages and contribute and write up studies in the other two work packages where needed
  • Be responsible for experiment and survey design, data collection from samples in the UK and coordinating data collection in eleven (11) other locations around the world
  • Contribute to securing ethics approval for studies in all locations

Eligibility

  • A doctorate or equivalent qualification/experience in behavioral economics or psychology –or an allied subject
  • An excellent record of publications in quality peer reviewed journals, commensurate with stage of career
  • Experience conducting advanced statistical analyses, including multilevel modelling
  • Familiarity with research literatures on economic games measuring coordination and cooperation, decision making and honor and/or cultural psychology
  • Experience of independently using statistical packages such as R, Mplus, HLM7, MLWin
  • Experience with and knowledge of open science tools (e.g., OSF, GitHub) and practices (e.g., pre-registration, registered reports) 
  • Strong background and training in social/cultural psychology, behavioral economics, organizational science or related field
