The Division of  Information Systems for Climate Science and Decision-Making (ISCD), CMCC Foundation is inviting applications for a position of Stakeholders engagement  and community of practice specialist for European and national projects on climate change adaptation. The job location is CMCC office in Milan or Bologna or Lecce, Italy. Annual salary ranging is from 30-35 K Euros, depending on qualification and experience.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Identify and explain enabling factors and barriers affecting the stakeholder engagement process — and make recommendations for strengthening the enabling factors and removing the barriers.
  • Conduct stakeholder engagement processes at European and national level.
  • Remain abreast of the current literature on stakeholder engagement — and assess its applicability in the climate change domain.
  • Develop, maintain and contribute to a database of “promising practices” in stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop strategies for ensuring that best practices in stakeholder engagement are (a) identified and (b) become institutionalized.
  • Identify opportunities for the testing of promising practices — and then the identification and description of best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Organize and coordinate communities of practice and working groups on the climate change domain at European and national level.

Eligibility

  • An advanced university degree (e.g. master) in social sciences, sociology, development, socio-economy economics, environmental economics, environmental sciences, environmental policy, climate policy, public policy or a related field.
  • PhD on the above-mentioned fields as an asset.
  • Three years of experience in the field of stakeholder’s engagement, capacity building, negotiation, and community socio-development.
  • Experience with project development, implementation, or demonstrations at local, national and/or international levels involving stakeholders engagement and mobilization.
  • Experience with policy or institutional development/implementation/reform related to the climate change domain.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and international environment would also be an advantage, based on previous relevant experience (e.g. internships, study abroad semesters, etc.).

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the field of stakeholder’s engagement, capacity building, negotiation, and community socio-development.
  • Experience with project development, implementation, or demonstrations at local, national and/or international levels involving stakeholders engagement and mobilization.
  • Experience with policy or institutional development/implementation/reform related to the climate change domain.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and international environment would also be an advantage, based on previous relevant experience (e.g. internships, study abroad semesters, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral command of English and working knowledge of other European language;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex analysis simply and clearly in a style and tone appropriately tailored to the audience.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work simultaneously on multiple tasks;
  • Excellent team player with also ability to work autonomously with limited supervision
