The University of Maine is inviting applications for a funded assistantship for a Master’s level graduate student, starting in fall 2023. The student will be co-advised by Dr. Jonathan Malacarne and Dr. Rachel Schattman, and will either be based with the School of Economics or with the Agroecology Lab in the School of Food and Agriculture, depending on the successful candidate’s interests and prior experience.
The successful candidates will work on a project co-designed with their advisors, embedded in a larger multi-state effort concerning the effects of COVID-19 on food and nutrition security in rural areas.
Eligibility
- An undergraduate degree or prior work experience in food security, food systems, agriculture, and qualitative or quantitative research.
- Familiarity with agroecology, economics, R, and NVivo is preferred
