The Department of Geography and Environment, London School of Economics, is inviting applications for LSE-Newcleo Fellow in Energy Economics and Policy. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for two years with the potential to extend for a further year subject to funding. Start date September 2024. The successful candidate will be based within the Department of Geography and Environment, as part of a growing team of researchers working on the economics of energy and environment. The successful candidate will develop their own research agenda within this team.
They will also have the opportunity to develop and contribute to teaching initiatives on energy economics and policy within the Department. The successful candidate will participate in wider departmental and School activities as required, whilst contributing to fostering an engaging and supportive research environment within LSE, as well as between LSE and Newcleo Ltd.
Eligibility
- Candidates should have completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in economics, environmental/resource economics, energy economics or a closely related field by the post start date.
- Very good knowledge of the economics of energy and the environment as well as energy policy (including the nuclear energy sector) is essential.
- The ability and willingness to engage with non-academic decision makers
- Communicate analytical content to energy policy makers and professionals is also essential.
Requirements
- A commitment to develop and contribute to teaching initiatives on energy economics and
- energy policy within the Department’s teaching programmes
- A commitment to equality and diversity as well as fostering an engaging and supportive research and learning environment
- Relevant teaching experience
- Ability to undertake research that has impact and to engage in knowledge exchange
- An interest in the economics and policy of the nuclear energy sector
- Experience in leading or managing small research projects and ability to work independently.
