The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources in Purdue University is inviting applications for a PhD student to fill a Graduate Research Assistantship position in digital forestry. The selected candidate will enagge in research focused on tree mortality mappings at NEON sites using multisource remote sensing data including airborne LiDAR, orthorectified images, planet data, and Sentinol-2 imagery.
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Jianmin Wang and Dr Songlin Fei and have the opportunity to collaborate with scientists in the Institute for digital forestry in Purdue University. The assistantship includes a stipend, tuition waiver, and health insurance.
Eligibility
- MS Degree in remotesensing, ecology, forestry, or a related field
- Experience with remote sensing data
- Strong quantitative and writing skills
- Experience in machine learning/deep learning is desirable, but not mandatory
- Proficient English is required for applicants whose native langauge is not English
