The Department of Agriculture and Resource Economics (AREC) in the Herbert College of Agriculture, University of Tennessee is inviting applications for a Lecturer (100% Teaching) of Agricultural and Resource Economics to establish a nationally recognized program primarily focused on natural resource economics and online teaching. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track, faculty position. This individual will support the undergraduate program by teaching three to four courses per semester. Courses will be administered through in-person and online modalities and will consist of service courses and core curriculum for the Natural Resource and Environmental Economics (NREE) major.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Teach established coursework for the degree program
- Work with other departmental faculty to develop new courses to meet evolving and specific needs
- Promote and grow the NREE major through student recruitment and the development of a student club or coordinated activities for NREE majors
- Develop partnerships with state agencies, non-profits, and industries to enhance student internship opportunities
Eligibility
- A M.S. in agricultural economics, environmental and natural resource economics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the subject matter taught in undergraduate agricultural economics and environmental and natural resource economics courses is necessary
- Candidates must have a strong commitment to quality teaching
- Excellent communication skills
- A desire to teach and mentor undergraduate students
