The Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation, Clemson University is inviting applications for a PhD Graduate Student. The incoming graduate student (Ph.D.) will work closely with the Project Director (Dwivedi) and the scientists at the International Union of Conservation of Nature Forestand Grassland Team (based in Washington, DC) to achieve the following objectives:
- Review the literature on biodiversity markets to assess tools and trends
- Ascertain the impact of forestlands and grasslands on public health outcomes, including analyzing trade-offs and synergies
- Carryout cost-benefit analyses of the different biodiversity markets and their economic impacts, takingpublic health into account
This position will pay $30,000/year for four years. Suitable annual raises will be included following the state and university policies. The incoming student will be eligiblefor other benefits per the policies of Clemson University. Tuition is waived for the incoming student.Opportunities for career development are also available across the university
Eligibility
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate students interested in making a successful career in modeling the impacts of biodiversity policies on public health at national, regional, orglobal levels are encouraged to apply
- Prior experience in public healthand/or biodiversity research is preferred but not required
- Prior publications are not required to apply for the announced position
