The Institute of spatial planning, Vienna University of Technology is inviting applications for a PhD researcher to support the EU research project “MountResilience” on transformative climate change adaptation in European mountain regions for 48 months (25 hours/week, for 4 years). The expected start date is September 2023 (until August, 2027).
The researcher will work in our research project together with other researchers at TU Wien, and with a network of academic and policy/regional partners over the course of the next years. Some traveling to project meetings in different parts of Europe (mostly central Europe) is expected.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Research in the project dealing with climate adaptation policies in six different mountainous
European regions; valuation of policies by means of benefit-cost approaches. - Reporting and drawing deliverables.
- Support of the project management
Eligibility
- Master’s degree in Social-ecological Economics, Socioeconomics, Public Economics, Sustainability sciences, Environmental management, or similar.
- Knowledge of theories, concepts, and approaches of environmental valuation of programs/policies, benefit-cost analysis, environmental/ecological economics, eco-social
transformation, climate resilience, and regional development. - Experience in applying quantitative research methods, particularly empirical surveys, quantitative data management, contingent valuation, statistical-econometric methods.
- Interest in issues of climate change adaptation, and transformative governance and planning.
- Very good command of written and spoken English
Requirements
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in workshop design and implementation.
- Skills in graphic design and visual communication.
