The Department of Organic Chemistry in Stockholm University is inviting applications for a PhD position in the group of Prof. B. Martín-Matute. The selected candidate will work on the creation of new homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic systems that enable the selective activation of inert chemical bonds. This project is at the intersection of catalysis, materials synthesis, mechanistic investigations, and application to late-stage functionalizations. The project will focus on the use of abundant metal catalysts, and will also involve applying high-throughput experimentation (HTE) and mechanochemical conditions. The principles of green chemistry, with emphasis on prevention of waste, and on atom and energy efficiency will be applied.
As a doctoral student, the selected candidate should primarily devote him/herself to their own doctoral education, but the employment may include work with education, research and administration to a limited extent (maximum 20 %). A new employment as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, the employment is then renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
