The Division of Information Systems for Climate Science and Decision-Making (ISCD), CMCC Foundation is inviting applications for a new position of a new position of Policy analyst for European and national projects on climate change adaptation. The job location is CMCC office in Milan or Bologna or Lecce, Italy. The temporary contract of 12 months starts from November 2022, with the possibility of contract extension based on performance, results achieved and new project opportunities. Annual salary ranging is from 33K Euros, depending on qualification and experience.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Analyse climate change adaptation and mitigation decisions within international climate policy processes and programs in the UNFCCC and European contexts (e.g., the Green Deal and the European Climate Change Adaptation Strategy), as well as at the national level;
- Contribute to the research and drafting of analytical papers on issues related to the international climate change negotiations;
- Ensure the incorporation of climate change issues into public and private strategies;
- Monitor relevant developments within the UNFCCC process, European and national climate policy implementation;
- Support the overall project management
Eligibility
- An advanced university degree (e.g. master) in economics, environmental economics, environmental sciences, environmental policy, climate policy, public policy or a related field.
- Proven experience and analytical skills in the field of climate policy at international, European and national levels with a special focus on agriculture, energy and marine sectors;
- Three years of experience undertaking research and conducting analysis of climate policy, preferably within an international organisation, national administration or agency, research institute or organisation.
- Knowledge and understanding of selected aspects of the on-going international climate negotiations and climate policy topics (e.g. mitigation and/or adaptation responses).
- Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
- Experience with the organisation of meetings, workshops and conferences with a diverse range of participants would be an advantage.

- Excellent written and oral command of English and working knowledge of other European language;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex analysis simply and clearly in a style and tone appropriately tailored to the audience.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work simultaneously on multiple tasks;
- Excellent team player with also ability to work autonomously with limited supervision;
