New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) invites applications for a USDA/NIFA-funded postdoctoral research associate position in the area of computational economics and drought research. The particular research project will focus on agricultural drought management in the New Mexico High Plains, integrating soil systems, water resources, and climate strategies. The preferred starting time is August 2022 but negotiable.
Eligibility
- Ph.D. in economics, agricultural/applied economics, sustainability science or other related fields
- Strong skills in quantitative modeling and econometric data analysis
- Proficient in one or more of the following programming languages: R, Matlab, GAMS
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Requirements
- Experience with geospatial data modeling and relevant statistical/econometric methods
- Experience with computational economic modeling, including but not limited to regional CGE modeling, agent-based modeling, and integrated ecological-economic modeling
- Background in agricultural water use, irrigation, and drought research
