The Department of Applied Economics and Statistics (APEC) at the University of Delaware is inviting a qualified candidate to serve as a Postdoctoral Researcher for a period of 2 years possible in the role. Applicants must have experience with and knowledge of computer programming for the purpose of coding web-based valuation tools that can be used for benefit-cost analyses and optimization approaches.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to co-author publications, participate in policy-relevant research, and participate in professional conferences. This position involves opportunities to work on research with graduate and undergraduate students and participate in a multi-tier mentoring program.

The successful candidate will work directly with Drs. Maik Kecinski, Martin Heintzelman, and Kent Messer. The position will offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience. An attractive benefit package is included.

Eligibility

  • Applicants are expected to have strong training and experience in computer programming of web-based applications, and environmental and resource economics, especially in the measurement of ecosystem service benefits and the transfer of measurements of ecosystem service benefits to other projects and locations.
  • A background knowledge of ecology, ecosystem function, stated and revealed preference elicitations, and econometrics will be helpful.
  • A PhD in economics or applied economics (or closely related field) is required.
  • Strong written and communication skills are critical as there will be multiple opportunities to work on write-ups of ongoing research and communicate with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
