The University of Illinois is inviting applications for a highly motivated, dedicated postdoctoral research associate to conduct innovative economic modeling research with the economics group led by Dr. Madhu Khanna at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Environment at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. The focus of this position is on developing computational models to understand the economic drivers for technology adoption and land use change and its implications for ecosystem services with an application to low carbon energy technologies.
Funding is available to start immediately and the position is open until it is filled; the start date is negotiable. Appointment will be on an annual basis with the potential for annual renewal for two to three years.
Eligibility
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, environmental and resource economics energy economics, operations research or related field
- Must possess an outstanding ability to perform quantitative modeling and analysis
- Work independently and conduct publishable research
- Experience in programming models, spatial analysis, optimization methods, agent-based modeling
- Must have an interest in working with interdisciplinary researchers will be among the selection criteria
- Knowledge of GAMS, python and GIS software is desirable
