The Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research position in the area of energy and development, specifically in the areas of energy poverty/access and sustainable energy transitions. The work is funded and has a one-year initial appointment, with the possibility of renewal in future years.
The position entails work to support and lead certain aspects of the research portfolio of the James E. Rogers Energy Access Project (EAP) at the Nicholas Institute & Energy Initiative (which is co-led by Sanford School Associate Professor Marc Jeuland). The role will focus primarily on supporting the research of the Powering Productivity and Healthy Communities workstream, mainly to help lead a multi-year impact evaluation of an innovative solar mini-grid model being piloted to support rural irrigation development and technology enhancement in rural Ethiopia.

Eligibility

  • PhD in economics, environmental and/or resource economics, public policy, or a related field
  • Ability to analyze large datasets using advanced econometric and statistical methods
  • Strong interest in the issues related to energy and development
  • Ability to construct models for policy analysis is a plus
