The Wharton Risk Center at the University of Pennsylvania is inviting applications for a full-time pre-doctoral research coordinator, starting in September 2021, to assist with various research and policy projects on climate resilience, climate risk management, disaster insurance markets, natural disaster risk management, and related applied economic/policy topics. This is a one-year position with the possibility of a second-year renewal, conditional on funding. Job responsibilities include both qualitative and quantitative research assistance. The successful candidate would work closely with Dr. Carolyn Kousky as well as Risk Center staff and affiliate faculty. The salary range is from $42,953.00 to $77,315.00.

- Creating spatial visualizations of data in ArcMap or R
- Summarizing literature
- Finding data
- Summarizing legislation
- Writing blogs
- Drafting Policy Briefs
- Creating surveys/questionnaires in Qualtrics
- Familiarizing themselves with disaster databases for quick analyses for policy proposals, and related tasks.
Eligibility
- A Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Political Science, Operations Research, Environmental Policy or a related field.
- Familiarity with either R or Stata is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates that have familiarity with any of the following: Qualtrics. GIS, Excel, Python, or other data visualization tools.
- Demonstration of strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and superb organization.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Excellent academic record.
- Prior research experience preferred.
- Coursework or other background in the topics of focus to the Risk Center strongly preferred.
