The Department of Economics (LEDa) at Université Paris Dauphine PSL is inviting applications for two highly motivated research assistants for full-time pre-doctoral positions in health, labor, and political economics. Each candidate will primarily work on projects respectively managed by either CNRS research fellow Mathilde Godard or assistant professor, Laura Khoury. The position starts in Fall 2024, preferably September or October, for a duration of one year. The position is preferably full-time, but part-time arrangements could be considered.
The position is ideal for students who are looking for research experience in an academic setting prior toenrolling in a PhD in Economics. Itoffers an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in carrying out and developing research in applied microeconomics. It is expected that the candidate is involved in different stages of research, including brainstorming, literature reviews, data management, model building, data analysis, data visualization and writing.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Data management: The projects build on several sources of data, including administrative databases(Swedish, Norwegian and French) and text data. A primary data management task will involve working with administrative databases. A secondary data management task will involve text data analysis of mass layoff plans and media news, and the computation of job posting indexes.
Eligibility
- Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics or a related field
- Experience in applied microeconometrics using French, Swedish and potentially Norwegian administrative databases: This would require model building, data analysis and data visualization. Tasks would involve not only replication of findings in current literature but also using novel methodologies to establish new findings in the health/labor literature
- Experience with Stata
- Attention to details and documenting the research tasks performed
- Experience conducting independent literature reviews and incorporates and adhering to state of the art empirical and computational standards.
- Very good oral and written communication skills in English
