The Research Corporation of the University of Guam is inviting applications for a Research Associate II (G3 Circular Economy – CIS/Sea Grant). The Research Associate II will support the goals of the Pacific Research on Island Solutions for Adaptation (RISA) and the University of Guam (UOG) Center for Island Sustainability (CIS)/ Sea Grant (SG) programs through a focus on the Guam Green Growth (G3) initiative. The individual will lead the economic valuation assessments of sustainable actions facilitated through the G3 initiative. The individual will also research, evaluate, and support the development of circular economy products for Guam and regional island partners. The salary range is Grade M, Step 1, $23.91 per hour.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Director, the Research Associate II will serve as a senior researcher at the G3 Circular Economy Makerspace and Innovation Hub and contribute to knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities
- Research, evaluate, and support the development of circular economy products and concepts for Guam and regional partners; Provide economic valuation for sustainable actions implemented under the G3 Action Framework
- Develop educational products (i.e., publications, short courses) on circular economy and integrate into G3 Innovation Hub programming
- Coordinate and collaborate with local, regional, and global partners on circular economy issues;
- Produce a short course on the application of circular economy principles to integrate into G3 innovation hub programming
- Develop proposals for extramural funds to implement sustainable actions and circular economy activities
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings and workshops related to project tasks
- Deliver presentations at conferences or exhibit work at appropriate events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Eligibility
- Master’s degree in Economics, Social Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications
