The Delft University of technology, TU Delft is inviting applications for an Assistant professor in Economics and Finance of Climate Change Adaptation. This position is embedded in the Economics of Technology and Innovation (ETI) Section of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and is part of the Climate Finance for Resilient Infrastructure Flagship, funded by the University Climate Action Programme (CAP). Over the period of ten years, TU Delft will be allocating EUR 22 million to set up and shape this extensive program that offers you excellent opportunities to advance the state of the art and expand the growth of your international network.
This 18-month fixed-term position is offered as an Academic Career Track position (0.8 – 1.0 FTE). During the Academic Career Track, it is expected that the selected candidate grows towards an Associate Professor position within a maximum of eight years, for which a position will be available. With other Academic Career Track colleagues, the selected candidate will participate in the Academic Career Track Development programme, where he/she is offered ample opportunities to be developed in the areas of Education, Research, Societal Impact & Innovation, and Leadership & Organisation. He/She will regularly discuss development and results with senior staff based on a personalized development plan and performance criteria agreed upon at the start of Academic Career Track. The selected candidate will start with a temporary contract that will be converted to a permanent contract no later than 12 -18 months after a positive evaluation, based on continuous confidence in development potential and fit in the organisation.
Eligibility
- A Ph.D degree in Economics, Sustainable Finance, Environmental / Climate Policy or related fields.
- Experience with academic teaching in economics and/or finance
- Experience with quantitative methods (for example, one of the following: econometric analysis, economic modeling, networks or other methods to quantify cross-sectoral cascading effects and systemic risks in finance and economics)
- Research track record demonstrated by publications (or publication potentials) in international academic journals
Requirements
- Affinity with assessing climate physical risk/damages or climate change adaptation is an advantage.
- Willingness to initiate or join a team in acquiring externally funded research projects.
- Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary environment, with economists, humanity scholars, and engineers.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
