The Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna, Austria, is inviting applications for a trained economist or behavioral scientist (e.g., economist, psychologist, sociologist) to fill in the position of a full time Researcher. The position is available from October 3, 2022. The open position complements the team of the research group, contributing to empirical and applied research in various policy areas. Deepening networks with related research institutions in Vienna and at the international level is also expected. The Institute will support efforts towards independent publications in academic journals.
The duration of employment is 24 month fixed-term employment contract with option to extend indefinitely. The extent of employment is 35 hours/week (full time).
Roles/Responsibilities
- Developing and testing behavioral interventions to change peoples’ decision making in the areas of financial and pro-environmental behavior
- Conducting applied field research, in particular field experiments
- Writing reports and giving oral presentations
Eligibility
- PhD (or near completion) in economics, psychology or in another behavioral science, with focus on behavioral/experimental methods
- Experienced with independent research in empirical behavioral economics and management of research projects including data collection
- Fluent in English and German C1
- Skilled in statistics, specifically with statistical software such as R, Stata or SPSS
Requirements
- Experienced with field- experiments or another field research
- Good knowledge of the institutional setting of Austrian public administration and of economic policies therewith, or willingness to swiftly acquire this knowledge
- Well-versed in communicating with decision makers in science, politics, business, and society
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral skills
- Capable and willing to prepare and conduct empirical research projects
- Willingness to take responsibility

The minimum salary offer for a full-time position (with completed PhD) is € 3 275,77 gross per month (14 times), depending on job grading in accordance with IHS salary scheme and relevant work experience determining the assignment to the particular salary grade.
