The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, University of Duisburg-Essen, is inviting applications for a W3 professorship for “economics, with a focus on experimental economics”. The successful candidate will head elfe, our laboratory for Experimental Economics. The teaching language is German in the Bachelor’s and either German or English in the Master’s programmes. Cooperation with other research groups within the faculty and the Mercator School of Management is desired. The professorship is a full time position including 9 hours of weekly teaching.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate is expected to teach classes in behavioural economics and economic policy in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Economics.
  • Participation in the core curriculum for Economics in the Bachelor’s and teacher training study programmes is also required. If the successful candidate’s proficiency in German is not yet at an appropriate level, they will be offered support in order to attain the required competence level within three years.

Eligibility

  • Academic personality with a distinguished research record in experimental economics
  • Publications in highly ranked, peer-reviewed journals
  • Participation in international cooperations
  • Experience in acquiring and managing competitive third-party funded projects, preferably from the DFG or comparable international research organisations, are expected

Requirements

  • A university degree and a particular aptitude for research work, as is generally demonstrated by outstanding results in doctoral studies in a relevant field
  • The candidate is also expected to have demonstrated further academic achievements as part of a junior professorship, a habilitation or a role as a research fellow at a higher education institution or at a non-university research institution or through research work in industry, administration or another public sector field in Germany or abroad.
