Apply as Postdoctoral Researcher in Economics of Transportation

Job (56)

Application Deadline: 24 March 2024

The Department of Economics, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral researcher in Economics of Transportation to reduce carbon emissions from the Swedish car fleet. The core of the project is to develop – using a unique micro-dataset – a rigorous, structural model linking the used and new car markets, and to use that model to help design an optimal scrappage subsidy to get older cars off the road.

The successful applicant will be expected to develop their own research in the area of environmental and natural resource economics, and to contribute to an ongoing project – Scrap and Grab: Should Sweden introduce a vehicle scrappage subsidy? – focused on optimal design of a scrappage subsidy for older cars with a view to reducing carbon emissions from the car fleet.  The project will assemble, and use, a unique micro-dataset of used car prices, which together with a micro-data set of vehicle registration, VKT (Vehicle Kilometers Travelled) and household register data, will be used to develop a rigorous, structural model to link the used and new car markets. Note that the position as a postdoctoral researcher implies at least 80 percent research.
