J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics, National University of Ireland Galway is inviting applications for a permanent lectureship position in Economics of Development, Inclusion and Sustainability within the Discipline of Economics. Salary: €67,430 to €87,701 per annum.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, supervision, and examining at all levels
  • She/He will engage in scholarship and research, and contribute to the administration of the Discipline, the School, and the College.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role, working with colleagues from across the University, and national and international collaborators
  • The successful candidate will embed the themes of respect, excellence, openness, and sustainability into their teaching and research practices

Eligibility

  • A PhD in Economics
  • Evidence of high quality economics research relating to economic development, inclusive societies, and/or environmental sustainability
  • Evidence of high quality publications in internationally renowned peer reviewed journals, including top field journals and/or general interest journals in economics
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and assessing economics modules at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels
  • Ability to contribute to supervision at postgraduate level, including PhD students
  • Ability to manage modules and/or programmes with small and large classes
  • Evidence of leadership ability and significant contribution to their current School, College, University, or field commensurate to career stage
  • Collegiality and an ability to motivate others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skill

Requirements

  • Capacity for research collaboration, both internationally and interdisciplinary
  • Experience in, or potential for, developing research grant proposals and winning external funding
  • A teaching and learning qualification
  • Track record of innovative teaching in relevant areas
  • Experience in developing online teaching resources
  • Can bring a strategic approach to the Discipline and associated university research institutes in the development of existing and/or new research groups and teaching modules
