Apply for a PhD Scholarship at University of Southern Denmark

The University of Southern Denmark is inviting applications for a fully-funded 3-year PhD scholarship with a competitive salary, focusing on strategic thinking and learning, starting from September 1st 2022 (The starting date is negotiable).

The selected candidate will be a bright master student interested in understanding more about how strategic thinking develops, how people learn from past experiences, and how reasoning is adapted  based on past actions. Research will include experimental data collection, possibly but not exclusively using the eye-tracking technology. 

Eligibility

  • The ideal candidate is expected to hold (or close to complete) a Master degree in Behavioral Science, Economics, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Management, Computer Science, or related areas. However, other backgrounds can also be considered.
  • Good knowledge of R, possibly Python, or similar software. Willingness to learn programming in Python is needed.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods is required
  • Interest (and possibly prior experience) in running experiments within economics.
  • Willingness to learn to use an eye-tracker.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (enclosing results of TOEFL and GRE tests is encouraged but not mandatory)

Requirements

  • Interest in experimental research is a requirement, but previous experience is not.
  • Students with a theoretical background, but with an interest in experiments are encouraged to apply.

  • A certified copy of master’s degree certificate including all examination results
  • Candidates who expect to complete their master before September 1st 2022, should include a list with all the exams completed and a letter from the supervisor that states that s/he does not expect any issue in completing the master thesis on time.

  • A motivational letter describing why the applicant is a good match for analyzing the topic (and how the applicant’s skills provide a solid foundation to do so (max. 5 pages incl. reference list))
  • A project description (max 5 pages of 2400 characters each, including spaces, notes, appendices, bibliography etc.)
  • An abstract for the above project description of no more than 250 words
