Colorado State University is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position is a full-time (9-month) faculty appointment. The proposed annual salary range is $90,000-$100,000 plus comprehensive benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program focused on agricultural and resource economics and/or regional development
- Publish in highly ranked peer-reviewed journals appropriate to the individual’s research focus
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Topics are negotiable based on departmental needs and personal interests
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students (MS and PhD)
- Engage in service/outreach commensurate with interest, experience, and departmental needs.
- Help to co-lead the Regional Economic Development Institute
- Support efforts and partnerships aligned with the Regional Economic Development Institute (REDI) and CSU’s new Economic Development Administration University Center
Eligibility
- Ph.D. in economics, agricultural and resource economics, regional development, or closely related field by August 1, 2025.
- Demonstrated interest in collaborating with Extension faculty in support of outreach programs focused on community, economic, and regional development, and how community development interacts with food systems, natural resources, and agricultural literacy.
Requirements
- Demonstrated interest and experience in recruiting, supervising, and advising graduate students.
- Evidence of proficiency in quantitative applied economic theory and analytical methods (e.g. spatial analysis, IO or CGE models, survey methods) related to agricultural and/or natural resource-based rural, regional, or community development.
- Experience or interest in teaching related to the following topics: principles of economics, labor, policy, econometric and data methods.
- Demonstrated interest in serving in outreach, leadership, and evaluation roles.
- Demonstrated success or interest in obtaining extramural funding.
- Evidence of or interest in interdisciplinary research.
- Research and outreach interest or experience working with local government, public finance, rural infrastructure programs, and/or public lands and tribal interests.
