The Institute of Markets and Strategy (IMS) is part of the Department of Strategy and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien). IMS has a focus on research and teaching on the market and institutional design as well as game theory and behavioral, empirical, and experimental economics. The employee position in Austria’s capital, Vienna is subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff (Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten) and will be limited to a period of three years, starting on June 01, 2021 (starting date subject to negotiation). The minimum gross monthly salary is €3,945.90 (paid 14 times per year) and is subject to adjustment if candidates can document the equivalent prior professional experience.
The employee is expected to pursue his/her own research agenda but is also expected to participate in joint research projects with other members of the institute and provide advice to Ph.D. students. The regular teaching load for this position comprises 4 SWS / term (~45 contact hours per term). The postdoctoral position will require contributions to research, teaching, and administration at the institute, including supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.

- Capacity to excel in both research and teaching.
- Interest in behavioral aspects of economic/ managerial decision-making.
Requirements
- Candidates with a solid academic qualification (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Economics (preferably), Business, or a related field
- Advanced knowledge of quantitative research methods.
- Evidence of research quality (e.g., as demonstrated in the job market paper and other papers).
- Very good written and oral command of the English language is required. (For international candidates, German language skills are a plus but not required)
They are particularly interested in candidates whose background and qualifications are in one or more of the following areas:
- Economic game-theoretical analysis;
- Statistical and econometric analysis, in particular for large data sets;
- Experimental methods, both in the lab and in the field;
- Computation and programming experience.
