Apply for any of the three fully funded Ph.D. positions at Ghent University

Description

The Economics Department of Ghent University, Belgium is inviting applications for three (3) Ph.D. scholarship positions. The Ph.D. positions are FWO-fully funded for a period of 4 years and are research-focused. Successful candidates will receive a monthly salary of approximately €2.100 (net), social security benefits, end-of-year and holiday bonuses, and travel and computer equipment resources.

The positions concern research in behavioral economics on the determinants and consequences of preferences and beliefs, including individual preferences as well as social interactions. Methodologically, the candidates will make use of economic theory, conduct empirical investigations using survey data, and/or conduct experiments, possibly in combination. The Ph.D. students will become members of the RIS Lab Centre/Network and will work under the supervision of Prof. Ferdinand Vieider and Dr. Ranoua Bouchouicha. Candidates will take part in the funded research projects, as well as being able and encouraged to develop their own research agenda (usually with a 50-50 division, though this is subject to discussion on a case by case basis).

Requirement

  • A Master’s degree in Economics or in a closely related field, or should obtain this degree by the end of the academic year.
  • Successful candidates belong to the top 20% of their class.
  • An additional advanced / research master’s degree in economics is an asset.
  • Candidates who do not have a master’s degree that was awarded in a country of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland must also submit GRE test scores or GMAT scores (percentile ranking).
