Application Deadline: 19th November, 2021

The Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods (DEMM) in The University of Milan is inviting applications for a post-doctoral position in Economics beginning at the latest in October 2022. Candidates should have completed a doctorate by this date. The baseline net salary is about 19,000 € (gross salary: 21,000 €, tax-exempt but subject to 11% social security contributions) per annum for two years (renewable for two more years) plus a net mobility allowance – for researchers of any nationality who obtained their Ph.D. from a non-Italian institution – of about 6,400 € (gross allowance: 7,200 €, tax-exempt but subject to 11% social security contributions) per annum for the first two years since appointment. Applications from all areas of Economics are welcome.

Eligibility

  • The Department is interested in applicants with the capability to publish in leading journals.
  • An established track record of publications in top generalist or top field journals is appreciated but not required at this stage.
  • The successful candidates must contribute to the research excellence of the Department: candidates therefore are expected to have a well-developed research agenda, and must be willing to work jointly with resident fellow academics on projects of mutual interest.
  • Teaching is not a mandatory component of this post; however, a limited opportunity for this activity could be arranged, should the successful candidates be interested in developing this aspect of their CV.

Application Details

  • A curriculum vitae,
  • A sample of recent research
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A cover letter in which the candidates describe their research agenda, explaining how it could be integrated into the research carried out in the Department. Candidates should also indicate one or more members of DEMM with similar research interests as the most likely people that they could work with on joint projects and briefly motivate their choice. The Selection Panel will pay great attention to this cover letter.

Interviews will take place online. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their research in a webinar or seminar, depending on travel restrictions at that time.
