Assistant Professor Position

The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca is inviting applications for a fixed-term assistant professor position in Prosocial Behavior and Decision Making. The ideal candidate will be a committed and enthusiastic young researcher who wants to actively contribute to the development of the area of behavioral science at IMT. The position is fixed-term(3 years ) with a competitive net salary (about 3000 Euro per month) and a very low teaching load (not more than 20 hours at Ph.D. level), endowed with basic research fundings (starting from 3000 Euro per year). Relocation to Lucca is expected as well as contribution to IMT’s multidisciplinary behavioral and neuroscientific experimental laboratory.
Eligibility/Requirement
- Ph.D. in a field related to the present call obtained in Italy or abroad.
- Curriculum with a suitable scientific background for carrying out research activity in the required field.
- Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

Tenure track Associate Professor Position

- Computational MethodsSocial
- Affective and Economic Decision Making
- Statistics, Econometrics & Machine Learning
Computational Methods:
Ideal candidates are accomplished researchers with a strong methodological background in one or more of the following: computational machine learning, numerical analysis, control and optimization, network analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research and teaching postgraduate courses on topics related to the above subjects, and to interact with the different areas of the School, in particular on frontier cross-disciplinary research problems of computational mechanics, economics, industrial automation, and in general on specification, analysis, and management of systems.
Social, Affective, and Economic Decision Making:
Ideal candidates are experienced scholars with a recognized potential to carry out research and teaching in one or more of the following areas: neuroscience, cognitive psychology, brain network analysis applied to decision making processes, preferences, emotions, and representation of emotions, also in relation to management, economics, and marketing. Candidates must be open to interacting with the different areas of the School, particularly on frontier cross-disciplinary research problems of decision making in economics, analysis, and management of systems.
Statistics, Econometrics, and Machine Learning:
Ideal candidates should have a track record of internationally recognized research in statistics, econometrics, or machine learning together with a strong background in economics. We are looking for outstanding candidates with an excellent track record of applying advanced statistical methods to analyze economic systems. The position is part of the School’s initiative to broaden its activities in data science, develop applications in different domains, and foster its interdisciplinary development.
Tenure-track Assistant Professors (RTD-B) will be employed for three years, during which they are required to secure the Italian national scientific habilitation (ASN) from an independent national evaluation committee in order to obtain tenure at the associate professor level. Applicants to ASN are evaluated based on various indicators of scientific quality and leadership such as bibliometrics, research grants, invited talks, and best-paper awards. The salary is in a range between € 35.732 and € 46.452
