The newly found Institute for Cognition and Behavior at WU Vienna is inviting applications for candidates for Ph.D. as well as Post-doctoral positions at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The positions within the interdisciplinary institute will focus on understanding how underlying cognitive and affective processes shape individual and collective decisions, behavior, and consequently institutional success. To investigate these mechanisms, methods from social cognition, personality psychology, behavioral economics, business, and computational social science are employed. Teaching will be in English. Starting date is flexible. Infrastructure and funding for experimental work (also using eye-tracking) will be available.
Non-tenure track, Assistant Professor
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) that ends after six years. The work program focuses on the interplay of individual and situational factors affecting decision behavior and focuses on two major challenges:
- Understanding the underlying cognitive and affective processes leading up to a choice
- Identifying the channels through which situational as well as personality factors operate in the context of organizations.
The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €3,945.90, this salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Conducting experimental research (an active participant pool, funding, an experimental group lab as well as eye-tracking lab will be available)
- Teaching (within the SBWL: Decision Sciences: Game Theory, Psychology, and Data Analysis)
- Attendance of international conferences
- Publication of research projects in international journals
Eligibility
- PhD degree in psychology, cognitive science, economics, business and management (alternatively in a related field)
- Interested in one or multiple of the following fields: decision making, information processing, cooperation, trust, bounded ethicality, process tracing, organizational behavior driven by inter-individual differences
- Strong background and interest in empirical social science methodology / statistics
- Strong motivation to contribute to the interdisciplinary agenda of the institute
- Fluency in English required
- Highly motivated, curious, well organized, team player
- Experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn

Teaching and Research Associate
This is a full-time position (30 hours per week) that ends after six years. The work program focuses on the interplay of individual and situational factors affecting decision behavior and focuses on two major challenges:
