Call for Application: PhD and Postdoctoral Positions at Institute for Cognition & Behaviour

Vienna University of Business and Economics is inviting applications for Post-doctoral and PhD positions (for up to six (6) years). The positions will focus on researching decision-making in the context of organizations(special focus on process tracing). Teaching will be in English. Starting date is flexible. Infrastructure for experimental work (also using eye-tracking) will be available.

The position is part of the newly found Institute for Cognition and Behavior headed by Prof. Susann Fiedler. The work program focuses on the interplay of individual and situational factors affecting decision behavior and focuses on two major challenges: (1) Understanding the underlying cognitive and affective processes leading up to a choice and (2) identifying the channels through which situational as well as personality factors operate in the context of organizations.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €4,061.50 (Assistant Professor, post doc), this salary may be adjusted based on equivalent prior work experience / 2,293.95 (Teaching and Research Associate), this salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience.

Eligibility (teaching and research associate position)

• Master degree in psychology, cognitive science, economics, business and management (alternatively in a related field) that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
• Interested in one of the following fields: decision making, information processing, cooperation, trust, bounded ethicality, process tracing
• Strong background and interest in empirical social science methodology / statistics
• Strong motivation to contribute to the interdisciplinary agenda of the institute
• Fluency in English required
• Highly motivated, curious, well organized, team player
• You have experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn

Eligibility (post doctoral non-tenure track position)

• PhD degree in psychology, cognitive science, economics, business and management (alternatively in a related field)
• Interested in one or multiple of the following fields: decision making, information processing, cooperation, trust, bounded ethicality, process tracing, organizational behavior driven by inter-individual differences
• Strong background and interest in empirical social science methodology / statistics
• Strong motivation to contribute to the interdisciplinary agenda of the institute
• Fluency in English required
• Highly motivated, curious, well organized, team player
• You have experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or are at least willing to learn
