The Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in behavioral and experimental economics. The position is initially for 3 years (subject to review after 2 years) and comes with no teaching obligations. The ideal candidate would be an independent researcher with a particular interest in combining experimental data with survey data, and/or in designing and conducting experiments in collaboration with non-academic partners.
The successful candidate will be initially employed on a 2-years contract, with a possible 1-year extension. There is no teaching obligation involved in the position, although there are opportunities for teaching and supervision, should this be desired.
Roles/Responsibilities
- the pursuit of independent research and development of his/her own research agenda, including grant seeking activities at national and/or international level;
- active engagement with the interdisciplinary FNR-funded Doctoral Training Centre “Experiments, Ethics and Economics” (3E), led by LISER;
- help shape and develop the strategic agenda of the Centre and to participate in the activities of the Institute (seminars, workshops, etc.);
- contribute to ways in which the research can be used for relevant “impact” on policy and society;
- help direct and build up the capacity of the Centre to run a wide variety of experiments
Eligibility
- A Ph.D. in Economics or an equivalent qualification;
- A strong background and track record in experimental and behavioural economics;
- Experience in publishing in leading journals in the field;
- Experience in developing grant proposals and acquiring competitive grant funding;
- A strong motivation to pursue independent research and develop his/her own research agenda, including grant seeking activities at national and/or international level;
- A willingness to actively engage with the interdisciplinary FNR-funded Doctoral Training Centre “Experiments, Ethics and Economics” (3E), led by LISER;
- A strong commitment to help shape and develop the strategic agenda of the Centre and to participate in the activities of the Institute (seminars, workshops etc)
Requirements
- An openness to liaise with researchers in other experimental and participatory research approaches of the Centre
- An interest and ideally experience in using the research to impact on policy and society
- Experience running experiments in the laboratory, online, and in the field; willingness to direct and built up the capacity of the Centre to run a wide variety of experiments
