The Institute of Environmental Systems Sciences at the Faculty of Environmental, Regional and
Educational Sciences, the University of Graz is inviting applications for a Professor of Sustainability, Climate Change and Human Behaviour.
The main focus of the newly established professorship is the analysis of behavioural and societal
challenges related to sustainability, especially in the context of climate change impacts and systemic
transformations towards net-zero and climate-resilient societies.
Roles/Responsibilities
- Candidates are expected to demonstrate their pedagogical and teaching abilities.
- The successful candidate will teach particularly in the field of Environmental Systems Sciences in our bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes, including two international joint master programmes.
- The candidate will contribute to the continual enhancement of our existing programmes and the development of our doctoral programmes.
- Collaborative teaching in interdisciplinary teams and teaching in English are also expected.
- Additionally, the successful candidate will actively contribute to university governance (e.g. chairing and committee memberships)
Eligibility
- Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position
(doctorate/PhD) - Habilitation or equivalent qualification in a field mentioned above (psychology, sociology or
behavioral fields of other sciences) - Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline and for
the profile of the professorship (commensurate with stage of academic career) - Success in attracting subject-specific project grants, particularly where competitively awarded
third-party funds are concerned - Skills in higher education didactics and online teaching
- Skills in the supervision and guidance of early career researchers
- Professional experience abroad during academic career
- Management and leadership experience
- Gender mainstreaming skills
- Excellent competencies in empirical research, including familiarity with quantitative approaches
Requirements
- Evidence of internationally recognised academic achievements in the form of publications,
particularly in leading international specialist journals - Good integration in the international scientific communities relevant to this professorship
- Willingness and ability to use and further develop existing regional, national as well as
international resources, networks and collaborations - Experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research as well as in international research projects
- Good command of English
